10 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Jun 17)

2. Minimal Build, Maximum Effectiveness

Jon Moxley
AEW

The build towards Jon Moxley Vs. Brian Cage at Fyter Fest is unfussy, focused, and so effective that the prospect of it still being a fortnight off is a bummer.

Taz is fantastic in this role and was fantastic on the night, calling Moxley a rotten son of a bitch and a miserable son of a bitch plagiarist in that awesomely nasty New York brogue. Moxley's duelling promo was tremendous, too. He didn't play it for laughs, nor did he issue his trademark awesome '80s action movie threats; he revealed the sinister core of the real, troubled individual within ("I have demons...bad ones"), which was scarier than any quotable one-liner poetry. The subtext conveyed, quite brilliantly, that Cage is in trouble.

This match is going to rule. The build demands that it rules.
