10 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Jun 17)
2. Sequencing Issues
Though there was not inconsiderable storyline advancement and entertainment value at the midway point of Dynamite, the sequencing of the card between the two title matches developed a certain Dark vibe.
Across three segments, AEW presented - and again, the consecutive nature really didn't help in bringing this all into focus - a zombie character, an evil cult, and a WWF Attitude Era midcard act working comedy spots with a talent that, in terms of his canon win/loss record and incredible performance at Double Or Nothing, should be positioned with more gravitas than this.
This will all lead to something. These weren't dud segments that profoundly damaged characters, and one of them was really quite savvy, for reasons that will be covered imminently.
But there's a gang of bad faith mutants out there, licking the warts on their green lips, and a dish of "I thought AEW was meant to be like sports!" paired with a cry laugh emoji and "Haha AEW only uses old WWE guys!" is their sad, pathetic sustenance.
