10 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Oct 28)
1. The Best Bout Machine
Kenny Omega may be leaning towards reviving 'The Cleaner' at the moment, though he flicked his 'Best Bout Machine' button last night, delivering an all-out banger with Penta El Zero M.
Competing in place of his brother, Fenix, "That Hardcore Guy From TNA" was dealing with Omega in prime d*ckhead form. Not that Penta has ever had a problem with this, of course: his chops, kicks, and head drops are amongst the most bruising in the game. From the attritional mid-match chop exchange to the leaping Destroyer onto the ramp later on, his gameplan was the same as it always is. Maim, in the most charismatically evil way possible.
Kenny flexed on Fenix, revealing the AEW Mega Championship he won from Rey beneath his t-shirt, and delivered his first NJPW-calibre singles match since meeting PAC earlier this year. He is in unreal form at the moment, with the only real complaint being Penta's arm-snapping spot, which was undersold as Kenny hit the One-Winged Angel as the announcers proclaimed he'd have difficulty doing so after the spot. While not enough to sully the match, these contests should be held to the highest possible standard - and this was noticeable.
Nonetheless, one of the best TV bouts of the year and another feather in Omega's cap ahead of Page and Full Gear.
