10 Ups & 3 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Sep 15)
3. It's Inevitable
Ethan Page, Josh Alexander, Ace Austin, and Madman Fulton vs. Chris Sabin, Alex Shelley, Doc Gallows, and Karl Anderson. It was never going to be anything short of phenomenal, was it?
That the four tandems involved were given the main event slot was a prime example of how much trust has been put into the doubles division in Impact Wrestling. Losing both The Lucha Bros and The LAX last year was a major blow, but it's thanks to teams like these that the division has been able to continue striving without the current AEW stars.
Things were a bit slow at the start, with Alex Shelley being cordoned off from his teammates. However, once 'The Machine Gun' was tagged in, things took off. All eight men took each other out with their signature offence, including a rather nasty ripcord rolling elbow from Alexander that seemed to take Shelley out of his boots. A Northern Assault to Sabin courtesy of the longest-reigning World Tag Team Champions in history was met with Ace Austin tagging himself, stealing the win for himself.
As has been proven for the past few months, the tag team division in Impact isn't slowing down. Even mismatched teams like Sami Callihan and Ken Shamrock added something to the division for the duration of the time they were together, leaving the more established pairings to further build the division into what it is. If that rumoured Bound For Glory match goes ahead as planned, it'll no doubt be sensational, with or without The Rascalz.
