10 Ups & 3 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Sep 15)
4. A Solid Match
When TJP vs. Trey Miguel was announced for this week's show, you were never really going to receive anything short of amazing from both men involved, which is exactly what we got.
From bell to bell, both X Division Championship contenders lit it up for viewers at home, showcasing their immense abilities as it pertains to wearing down an opponent. The innovative escapes both had for one another's rest holds were outstanding, while Miguel took a nasty bump at one point off a tornado DDT. A proper spike from a head-related move always makes for a nice visual, but it still looks nasty regardless.
Despite having his legs worked on throughout the match - which makes for a valid reason as to why he appeared to buckle his knee on a suicide dive - Trey still managed to use knee-based offence to win the bout, using a CIMA-style Meteora to put the artist formerly known as Manik away, and officially insert his name into the X Division Championship title scene.
There was nothing bad to note here. Simply a perfect match between two of the X division's best. While this writer would prefer Rohit Raju's title reign to last a tad longer, there is an abundance of perfectly acceptable successors to 'The Desi Hitman'. Case in point, this match.
