10 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Jun 10)

6. Sammy Clobbers Colt

Sammy Guevara Colt Cabana
AEW

Sammy Guevara and Colt Cabana both entered their singles match needing a win. Colt's need was more pressing, given his storyline rut, though he couldn't buy one against Chris Jericho's prodigy after losing to 'Le Champion' last week.

A match that began with both men trading middle fingers saw Sammy take control heading into the commercial break. Cabana found openings, capitalising on the extreme punishment taken by 'The Spanish God' in recent months, but looked increasingly frustrated as Sammy kept kicking out. That he wasn't quite on his A-game fed into the finish as well, as Colt's top-rope slip allowed Guevara to down him with the GTH for the victory.

Good, solid action and well-played storytelling here. Guevara getting the victory over an established veteran wrestler is a big plus point as well.
