10 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Jun 10)

3. FTR's Revival

FTR's debut opened the show. Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler came out in their loud-as-hell pickup truck, emerging to a theme that sounded a lot like their old WWE track, complete with "say yeah" sting, then took on The Butcher and the Blade in a terrific little bout.

This was just old-school, meat-and-potatoes tag team action. Bolstered by the story of The Butcher and the Blade getting beaten up on FTR's first night a few weeks ago, it had the newcomers looking sharp, tight, and fluid, as if they'd never been away. They cut off the ring like pros and gave their opponents the best standard two-on-two of their AEW run thus far, though not without giving Butcher a couple of power spots and letting Blade fire up as well. Great, timeless stuff.

A couple of notes: the Shatter Machine is now called the Goodnight Express, and FTR's finisher, the spike piledriver, is the Mindbreaker. Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard, the former Brain Busters, were in the crowd as well. Wrestling in front of their heroes must have been a cool experience for Dax and Cash.
