10 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Jun 10)

1. Marq Quen Puts Cody To Work

Cody and Marq Quen worked a limb match in Dynamite's main event - and a strong one at that.

This was all about the knee that Quen hurt while working an opening trios bout a few weeks ago. The Private Party man left that match limping and while cleared to compete, it still caused him problems, particularly as it painted a big target for Cody to attack.

And attack Cody did. 'The American Nightmare' went after the leg throughout, even wrapping it around the ring post and one point. This played into Quen's offense as well. Once again, Marq did a great job with his selling, slipping from the top turnbuckle because his leg couldn't support his bodyweight, then struggling to pick up speed while attempting his signature trio of dives.

Quen was spirited and his offensive periods came mostly through catching Cody off-guard with his quick, inventive style. A 450 Splash on the ramp put over how determined he was to get the job done though the knee pain proved too much for him in the end, and Quen succumbed to a leg lock.

Another week, another example of Cody enhancing a midcard opponent in defeat. Quen really came out of his shell here.
