The legitimacy of IMPACT Wrestling's Hall of Fame was raised with the official induction of Awesome Kong. She's a genuine legend of the Anthem-helmed promotion, having paved the way for many women both inside and outside of IMPACT, while being part of a generational feud vs. Gail Kim, the rivalry she insists is the whole reason for her induction.
Though Kong seemed a tad flustered at times during her speech, this can be put down to Gail Kim saying a lot of what she wanted to say herself. The content she did deliver herself came from the heart, thanking just about everyone she could. Names dropped included Scott D'Amore, Dutch Mantel, Lexie Fyfe, and Dave Prazak.
Her induction felt all the more important when listening to Gail's speech beforehand. The verbiage from the inductors can often go on and on, but Gail Kim took just the right amount of time here. She listed off a few heartwarming moments between herself and Kong, showcasing Kia Stevens as a down-to-earth person underneath the cold demeanour she plays as Awesome Kong. There's a genuine friendship there.
A minor Up, too, for the entire knockouts division flooding the stage to applaud the former Knockouts Champion, with Cheerleader Melissa - the former Raisha Saeed, Kong's manager - also in attendance. This was a huge deal.
