10 Ups & 5 Downs From Impact Wrestling (May 5)
4. Couldn't He Wait?
Contractually, Ace Austin is guaranteed an X Division Championship rematch against Willie Mack. 'The One True Ace' was bewildered at the fact that Chris Bey, a newcomer to Impact Wrestling, was deeming himself the first in line to challenge 'Chocolate Thunder', and so inserted himself into the main event too. But why?
Ace surely could have waited until a later date to challenge the champion, even if it meant waiting until next week. Using his one and only contractually obligated title rematch in a three way bout lowered his chances of becoming a two-time champion to 33.33% (unless you ask Scott Steiner, of course). Had he waited until next week at the very least, then he would've had a 50% chance, plus whoever the champion was wouldn't be at 100% to compete.
