10 Ups & 5 Downs From Impact Wrestling (May 5)
3. Rebellion Replay
In a rematch from Rebellion, Cousin Jake battled Joseph P. Ryan, a match that wasn't overly bad, but it had one major issue. It was more or less an exact replica of their previous outing, with Ryan focusing on Jake's arm, only for the Deaner cousin to use said arm for various manoeuvres.
While some of these moves from Jake were relatively lovely, including a release suplex and deadlift powerbomb, it did nothing to help either man, seeing as it made Joseph P. Ryan's offence look entirely pointless. Even the ending of the match was similar to their Rebellion contest, as Ryan cheated en route to victory in the form of an eye poke and yank of the tights during a schoolboy rollup.
That means the artist formerly known as Joey Ryan now has two cheap victories over Cousin Jake. Had at least one of those been a clean win, then perhaps this new character of Ryan's could be taken a little more seriously. If Impact management insists on signing a third contest between the pair, it needs to be a whole lot different to their previous two.
