10 Ups & 5 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling Turning Point 2021

8. Keeping It Simple

W. Morrissey vs. Matt Cardona was wrestled at a slower pace compared to what came before it, but still, it was a match worth watching that seemingly set up the next World Title match(es).

A chunk of this was wrestled around ringside, with Cardona executing a neckbreaker on the floor, whereas Morrissey slammed the former Zack Ryder against both the steel steps and the ring apron. It had that big fight feel to it, which helped tremendously in increasing interest.

Though the middle portion of the contest was at a standstill with restholds, it worked because Morrissey is a larger guy. It worked so well, in fact, that when Cardona gained the advantage, he inadvertently knocked the referee down, who'd previously been walking about without threat of danger due to the match's slow nature. This, in turn, led to Moose running out, Spearing Matt, and aiding Morrissey in winning.

Going forward, both Cardona and Morrissey have a legitimate reason to challenge Moose for the World Title. This is especially intriguing in the latter's case, given Fightful Select's pre-Turning Point report that he and IMPACT officials are in the midst of contract negotiations. Right now, the talks are looking positive.
