2. Vince McMahon’s Return

The entire wrestling world was shocked when Vince McMahon suddenly announced his retirement in July 2022. That shock quickly turned to excitement though, not least when folks realised that WWE could feel fresh for the first time in a long time without McMahon's micromanagement.

Early signs under Triple H weren't perfect, but they were promising. Then, Vince returned in early-2023 and fingernails were chewed. The McMahon patriarch was largely there to oversee a company sale, which happened, but he also dipped a toe back in creatively by changing TV scripts last-minute.

Realistically, Vince was still contributing ideas from home, but actually having him there backstage again was said to have a negative knock-on effect to roster morale/overall mood. Unwanted, last-minute script tampering is something nobody missed.

So much for another wrestling retirement.
