10 Ups & 8 Downs From AEW Fight For The Fallen

6. Return Of The Marv

Alex Marvez Excalibur
AEW

Alex Marvez is probably a lovely guy, and he's definitely a good journalist, but a professional wrestling commentator he is not.

His return to the announce booth brought a big downturn following Goldenboy's strong performance at Fyter Fest. He doesn't emote well, lacks the knowledge to offer any kind of valuable insight, isn't engaging, and his inflexions are all over the place. None of these things are his fault as he's still learning, but can a promotion with mainstream aspirations afford to have a guy who's still learning sitting in the announce booth?

The answer, of course, is no. Marvez was better tonight than he was at Double Or Nothing, but still below standard. AEW must either lock him in a room with Excalibur and Jim Ross until TV starts in October or rethink the three-man team. It's hampering the broadcast's quality at the moment.
