10 Ups And 11 Downs From WWE Royal Rumble 2020

3. Evans, Bayley Just Don’t Click

You have to appreciate how hard WWE is trying to get Lacey Evans over as a babyface challenger against dastardly heel Bayley, but man, if there ever needed to be an example of going against typecasting, this is it.

Bayley already is a failure as a heel, as she just doesn’t seem to be able to decide whether she’s a sniveling, cowering villain or a vicious mean girl. Evans is relying on people being mean to her 7-year-old daughter (who apparently is being home-schooled since she shows up at every TV match now) to get sympathy heat. That and repeatedly saluting because she used to be a Marine.

And while Lacey has a great personal story and shows flashes of talent, she’s clearly still not ready to be competing for a major title on a major show. Just because she looks like a champ doesn’t mean she should be one just yet. And the more WWE throws her out there to flail away and lose title matches, the worse it’s gonna be for her.

As for Bayley, someone needs to sit her down and work with her on what kind of heel she is. It just doesn’t seem to work.
