10 Ups And 13 Downs From WWE WrestleMania 35

1. Seven Freaking Hours… Plus

It’s admirable that WWE wants to give all its talent an opportunity to compete at WrestleMania, and they clearly want to generate more content for the Network, but someone is going to have to have a heart-to-heart with the brass about crowd burnout.

A PPV featuring a 16-match card that includes a two-hour kickoff show and a five-hour main show – with a half-hour overrun – is just way too much. It was pretty obvious by the end of the show, as entrances got shorter as you got further up the card (save for Triple H, of course), and four matches of the 13 on the main card were less than 6 minutes, with another three between 10-11 minutes.

When you have a show that runs long like this, your crowd is just dead by the end. Whereas you’d expect fans to explode at Becky Lynch winning the main event of WrestleMania, compare the reaction to Kofi Kingston winning the WWE Championship. That wasn’t due to fans caring less; it was because they were burned out after seven-plus hours.

Fix this, WWE. You could easily trim an hour off the show and not lose anything of substance.
