Whereas the Shane McMahon/Kevin Owens match had a bunch of extracurriculars to hide its deficiencies, Charlotte Flair and Trish Stratus didn’t need any of that to put together a highly entertaining, era-bridging battle.

Stratus – in what is rumored to be her farewell match (for real this time) – showed she still had enough in the tank to deliver a quality PPV match, going toe-to-toe with one of the best in today’s women’s division, Charlotte. Trish nailed her signature spots, even turning her countered handstand rana into a standard hurricanrana from the top rope. She put Flair in the Figure Four leglock, then bridged into the Figure Eight.

The high point came toward the end, when both women crawled toward each other and began teeing off on each other with chops. It was a high-drama moment, and Trish followed up with a couple near-falls to really rally the crowd behind her.

But this wasn’t to be Stratus’ night. Unlike her first farewell match in Toronto, Trish did not come out on top, as she tapped out to Charlotte’s Figure Eight. But it was still a nice send-off for the Hall-of Famer.
