6. Cruiserweights Rev Up, Stop Suddenly

Drew Gulak Oney Lorcan

WWE had been on a roll recently with Cruiserweight Championship matches at PPVs, but that streak was broken Sunday.

The bout between champ Drew Gulak and challenger Oney Lorcan wasn’t bad at all, but it was nothing different than you’d see on TV. The match was billed as possibly being the hardest-hitting cruiserweight title bout to date, which given the competitors seemed like safe billing. And the two men dug into each other pretty harshly.

But just as things looked like they were heating up, Gulak nailed a Cyclone Crash for the pinfall. It felt like they were halfway into the match and someone in the production truck realized they had to re-hype every match 10 more times, so they went home early.

It’s disappointing, because this could have been a pretty good match to really fire up the crowd, and instead it was just decent.
