Hats off to New Day, who captured the SmackDown Tag Team Championships Sunday night, becoming six-time tag champs, an accomplishment that says a lot about their staying power.

Xavier Woods & Big E outlasted Heavy Machinery and champs Daniel Bryan & Rowan, with E catching Bryan’s trademark backflip out of the corner so they could hit Midnight Hour on him for the win.

Along the way, all three teams went at 100 kph, with very few (if any) slow points: Otis and Tucker hit Big E with a suplex/crossbody combo; Woods and Bryan showed off their speed to start the match; E had a nice Hulk-up moment when Bryan was kicking him; Rowan got taken out by Heavy Machinery in a collision of big men.

Although the tag divisions are short on depth, this match showed there’s potential there if the new regimes want to make some hay of things. Perhaps there’s hope yet.
