10 Vicious Wrestling Brawls Nobody Talks About

6. Sting Vs. Kurt Angle (TNA, 19/2/2009)

Just before TNA decided the best way to attack WWE was by turning into WCW circa 1995, the 'Main Event Mafia' storyline dominating episodes of Impact acted as an entertaining reminder of exactly why the promotion was once a genuine McMahon alternative.

An implosion in the ranks of the MEM led to this 'Empty Arena' brawl between power-mad Kurt Angle and a Sting who felt disrespected by his stablemate's way of doing things. The result was one of the most refreshing matches TNA ever presented, even though there were no fans in attendance to see it.

Hearing the grunts and groans of each punch, kick, slam, and chair shot only helps the atmosphere too; playing the role of cowardly heel to perfection, the way Angle in particular begs Sting to rethink hitting him with a chair is masterful.

Although TNA may be a dirty word for many nowadays, some achievements in company history shouldn't be ignored. This fan-less tussle is one of those that has been, and that has to change. Sting vs. Angle in an arena wide dust up is one of the best from the TNA vaults.
