10 Vince McMahon Matches You Completely Forgot About
2. Vince McMahon Vs. John Cena
Presented as 'The Chairman vs The Champ', Vince squared off with John Cena as a curtain-raiser for Raw's two biggest matches at WrestleMania 22.
With Cena's WrestleMania opponent Triple H in Vince's corner, and McMahon's rival Shawn Michaels backing up 'The Doctor of Thuganomics', the match was the final segment in the go-home episode of the show, and positioned the heels as visibly dominant over their rivals with the 'Show of Shows' looming.
Fresh off an absurd appearance on the cover of 'Muscle and Fitness' magazine, the toned Vince was at his egomaniacal worst in the battle, going toe-to-toe with Cena, including an eye-popping test of strength that briefly put 'The Champ' on his knees.
As with most McMahon clashes, storyline took over in the latter half.
As per Vince's ruling, Shawn and Hunter were both handcuffed to the bottom ropes in order to ensure total parity in the contest, however a McMahon low blow abbreviated the match, allowing Vince to unlock 'The Game's handcuffs and trigger an extended beatdown on both Cena and Michaels.
Bloodying both with his sledgehammer, Hunter and Vince were able to stand tall over both ahead of their eventual WrestleMania defeats.
