Hulk Hogan and Sid Justice faced off in WrestleMania VIII’s main event in a rather slow encounter. Nevertheless, it highlighted the importance and power of a commentary team to hype a match. WrestleMania VIII’s Bobby Heenan and Gorilla Monsoon are considered the best for a reason.

After initial brawling, the match soon came down to a pro-wrestling staple, the test of strength, from which Hogan took control. Harvey Wippleman halted Hulkamania by providing the distraction needed for Sid to hit a chokeslam. However, Sid wasted time taunting and sought out a camera to cut a typically garbled promo into.

Sid dominated the match until hitting his powerbomb finisher. Hogan kicked out at two and sprung to his feet activating Hulkamania - becoming “impervious to pain”. He grounded Sid with a bodyslam and hit a leg drop.

The DQ:

Wippleman rushed into the ring following Hogan’s finisher. Sid kicked out at two unaided, but Wippleman’s interference still caused Sid’s disqualification. This led to the infamous Papa Shango botch debut and The Ultimate Warrior making the save. However, Hogan and The Warrior sharing a ring inadvertently reminded fans of WrestleMania VI’s superior main event.
