The Undertaker’s entrance, on a chariot with a black vulture, was as iconic as Gonzales’ airbrushed bodysuit was grotesque. Gonzales faced off against one of the greatest gimmicks in professional wrestling looking like something spewed up by either Ren or Stimpy.

The match was a mix between Gonzales’ clumsy strikes and the spectacle of his size, and classic Undertaker spots, from walking the rope to being repeatedly revived by Paul Bearer thrusting the urn skywards. Both men’s managers had physical spots in the match with Bearer taking a headbutt from the apron to the outside, and Harvey Wippleman being lifted and choked by ’Taker.

The DQ:

While being choked by ‘Taker, Wippleman slipped Gonzales a towel. The commentary team were left to act as the viewer’s nostrils hyping up the smell of chloroform. Gonzales used the towel for a claw manoeuvre covering The Undertaker’s face, triggering the disqualification. ‘The Deadman’ was stretchered to the back by medical personnel in Roman attire, but soon returned to beat down Gonzales, which Jim Ross cited as “living proof he is not alive”.
