10 Ways AEW Has ALREADY Made Wrestling History
8. Bringing Professional Wrestling Back To TBS
One of the most recent developments in AEW's already eventful lifespan is the shifting of its flagship show, Dynamite, from the Turner Network Television (TNT) network to Turner Broadcasting System (TBS).
Whilst this may not seem like a seismic development when one understands that these networks are affiliated with one another, as both are a part of the Turner media conglomerate, it is specifically within the history of professional wrestling that this movement becomes one of prominence.
The last time TBS aired a professional wrestling programme was 19 March 2001, when the final instalment of WCW Thunder played out. Therefore the airing of Dynamite on January 5th, 2022 ends an over 21 year drought of wrestling on the channel.
It cannot be understated how much this move means, as WCW's competition with WWE during the Attitude Era almost destroyed the latter before a turn of fortunes eviscerated the former in the infamous Monday Night War for ratings.
While jabs at "the other place" are obvious on the mic during heated promos, this is a carefully constructed statement of intent.
AEW is competition. AEW is here to stay. AEW is on TBS.
