WWE are terrible at writing good guys. It's strange for a company that's always been built around the good guy, but they're always absolutely terrible people. If WWE wants to get Randy Orton over as a main-event babyface, they need to write him as a legitimate alternative to what they've been getting for the past decade and force some change. The reason why guys like Dean Ambrose, Daniel Bryan and especially CM Punk got to be as popular as they are is because they represented something John Cena could not. During Randy Orton's last babyface run, he was essentially a slightly less popular Cena, and they already have Sheamus for that role. The reason Stone Cold Steve Austin was so popular is because there was no-one else like him. His main rivals during his main event ascension were Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels, the kings of the New Generation era, and Austin represented something different to that. If WWE want Randy Orton as a good guy, they maybe need to think about not marketing him to the same people who shout "LET'S GO CENA!" and instead focus on those shouting "CENA SUCKS!"
