10 Ways To Make The WWE Product More Like Sports

5. Bring Back Kurt Angle

A Kurt Angle return to WWE is already rumoured to be in the works for when his TNA contract expires later this year. It will absolutely be a smart move for presenting a more sports orientated product. In addition to being arguably the best pro wrestler ever, Angle is also an Olympic gold medalist. His entire gimmick is built around being a sportsman, if WWE put him front and centre of their brand then of course they will start to be perceived more like a sport. The problem is of course Kurt's failing health. He is riddled with injury woes which could limit his effectiveness in promoting WWE as sport. Despite wearing Jean shorts to the ring we are almost certainly going to continue with John Cena as the face of the WWE. Cena is hardly going to convince people that WWE is a sports product but the McMahon's won't ever change their franchise star. Nevertheless, Cena won't be around forever. He will perhaps take a reduced schedule in the next five years as he enters his forties, at which point WWE can run with a sport orientated superstar. The template for this should be Kurt Angle, the greatest sportsman ever to compete in a WWE ring.
