10 Ways To Make The WWE Product More Like Sports

6. WWE Isn't That Far Removed From UFC To Begin With

UFC President Dana White made MMA so popular by taking elements of Vince McMahon's 'sports entertainment' and applying it to real fights. If you watch feuds such as Sonnen vs Silva or Ortiz vs Anyone it always borrowed WWE style storytelling in vignettes and soundbites. In 2014 Vince McMahon should do the opposite. He should take lessons from MMA and apply them to WWE. Bring in some of UFC's sport features such as the tale of the tape we already mentioned. Extend it to other things such as having the WWE superstar checked by officials at ringside before entering the ring. Although WWE would never promote MMA, they can still build their matches around a worked version of this. They have already started doing this in some ways with Daniel Bryan who throws kicks and employs submission holds. That worked MMA style should be used more throughout the roster, making the action look more real and feel more like sport. If WWE study the UFC there are so many things to be learned. The MMA popularity may not be as hot as it was a few years ago but Dana White has undoubtedly been the best promoter this last decade.
