10 Ways NXT Is Making WWE Look Bad

6. Hierarchy

WWE.comWWE.comToday's WWE is interesting in that there are 10-15 guys that could conceivably main event any given episode of Raw or SmackDown. That is a good thing as far as freshness is concerned but it results in a scenario where everyone is the same. There is no definitive group at the top and no real midcard to speak of. Thus, there is nowhere for the Superstars to aspire to be. One minute, Dolph Ziggler can be losing to Damien Sandow on Raw and the next, he could be main eventing against Batista on SmackDown. When that is the case, it makes it very difficult to gauge who one is to take seriously. NXT does not have that problem. Adrian Neville is the clear top star thanks to his status as NXT Champion. Number one contender Tyler Breeze, Tyson Kidd and Sami Zayn make up the remainder of the main event picture. Beneath them are the Divas and the tag teams, both of whom are treated with greater importance than in WWE. Mojo Rawley, CJ Parker, Xavier Woods and the injured Corey Graves make for a very solid second-tier of competitors. The brand even effectively utilizes jobbers to help put its stars over. This style of booking gives NXT a distinct hierarchy. Fans recognize certain stars as main eventers and enthusiastically follow the journey of the other stars until they reach that point. It makes for a much easier program to invest one's self in.
