It's no secret that NXT is where all the top independent talent from around the world eventually end up. Take a look at the current roster. At least 90% of them, if not more, made a name for themselves on the indie scene before arriving in Orlando.

While some are destined for greatness and nothing more the minute they step through the curtain for the first time, some don't quite have the same level of success right off the bat, for varying reasons. For every Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa, there's a KUSHIDA and Dominik Dijakovic.

We'll use KUSHIDA as a prime example here. When the former multi-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion signed with NXT in April 2019, everyone was buzzing for his impending arrival. Things got off to an alright start for 'The Time Splitter', then his TV time dwindled. Appearances throughout the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic and the Cruiserweight Championship tournament restarted a push of sorts, but again, it stopped after a while.

Now, granted, he was sidelined with an injury for a brief period of time, but that was towards the end of last year. Why he hasn't been more heavily featured in the Cruiserweight Championship division is mind-boggling.
