10 Ways To Make WWE Cool Again

7. Scale Back On The Authority Figures

It's been almost 20 years since Vince McMahon became a regular character on WWE television, and about 17 since the McMahon family jumped the shark. What started as a good - even company-saving - idea devolved into the ultimate ego trip, wherein Vince, Shane, and Stephanie constantly put themselves over their contracted talent.

Vince is largely off TV these days (he's busy ruining things from the other side), but Shane and Stephanie are still treated as above the talent. Since Shane returned to WWE last year, he's gone toe-to-toe with the likes of The Undertaker, AJ Styles, and Roman Reigns in competitive matches, while Stephanie (who's been off TV since WrestleMania but should be returning soon) is prone to verbally eviscerating every wrestler with whom she works. Things will be even worse when HHH gets back.

Ex-wrestlers who get brought on to play babyface authority roles often get made to look like fools until their short tenures end - it happened with Mick Foley, and now it's happening to Kurt Angle. Given that Daniel Bryan seems to be the exception to the rule, he can stay, but otherwise, it's time to let this trope fade away.
