10 Ways To Make WWE Smackdown A ‘Must-See’ Show Again
8. Move Back To Thursdays
For the first six years of its existence, Smackdown aired on Thursday nights, and there were rumors (and photos of WWE trucks) flying until recently that the show would move back to Thursdays this fall. It looks like those rumors arent going to come to fruition right now, but it still remains a good way to capture viewers. Friday nights are known as a death slot on broadcast television, as its the beginning of the weekend, so a lot of people are going out or getting together with friends rather than watching TV. That has to cut into some of the potential Smackdown audience, particularly among the 18-24 and 25-34 age demographics. A move back to Thursday would have a better chance of capturing those age groups and thus boost Smackdowns standing among WWE fans. Doing this would mean a need to move NXT on the WWE Network (currently airing at 9pm Thursdays), but thats a minor issue when compared to the cable programs.
