10 Ways To Make WWE's Brand Split More Compelling
Do it right, or don't do it at all!
All right, that’s it. No more half-assing this thing.
If WWE is going to do a brand split, then they’re going to do it right. Otherwise, it’s a complete waste of time. Luckily for them, they already have a template for how to screw the entire things up, because they just did that a few years ago. So in theory, things should be working out much better this time around, but stubbornly, the same mistakes are still being made.
At the moment, there are some positives coming out of the split. It’s nice that the talent is less overexposed. It’s cool to see some mid-card names receiving bigger opportunities, and it's fun that a few wrestlers from the past have returned to the promotion. Otherwise, that's about it. The ratings for both shows continue to slide, and there's no reason to believe things are going to turn around anytime soon.
Luckily, I have some free ideas for WWE to use! If they want to pay me for them at a later point in time that is fine, but for now, these are all on me. I just want to watch a better product!
WWE should not give up on the brand split, as running five hours of first run TV with the same core cast was unsustainable. But the company also has to give us actual reasons to watch both shows, which means Raw and SmackDown both need distinct identities and fresh ideas.
