10 Ways To Make WWE's Brand Split More Compelling
9. More Exclusive Divisions
There’s too many titles in WWE! WWE Heavyweight, Universal, Raw Women’s, SmackDown Women’s, Intercontinental, United States, Cruiserweight, Raw Tag Titles and SmackDown Tag Titles. That’s not the major problem here, what is more destructive is how weak four of the divisions that those titles represent are.
Both Raw and SmackDown's women’s divisions, and both tag divisions basically have six to eight individuals or teams competing for the titles on each show. But is a title really that prestigious when there are only five other people who can possibly win it?
Until WWE hires more women, they should put them all on one show and really feature them in a prominent way. Raw and SmackDown combined only have 13 healthy female wrestlers who can compete right now! Splitting them in half makes both divisions look depleted. So basically, the company can either have four boring divisions, or two pretty solid one. From an entertainment standpoint, the choice seems obvious.
Splitting them up would also given fans a reason to watch each show. If someone likes tag team wrestling, go watch SmackDown. For fans of women's wrestling, they can watch Raw.
Neither route is perfect, but unless the company is willing to spend a lot of money and bring in roughly five to 10 more women and tag teams for each brand, then they’re going to be underwhelming fans on both brands for some time to come. Make like the Cruiserweights and give each division its own home.
