10 Ways To Make WWE's Brand Split More Compelling

4. The Brands Can Only Fight Three Times A Year

Survivor Series 2017

WrestleMania. Survivor Series. Royal Rumble. Those are the only three times a year that Raw and SmackDown wrestlers can collide in the ring. Anything more than that and you're watering the whole thing down.

Each brand can air recap videos and hype upcoming episodes of their competitor, and they can have wrestlers occasionally take a shot at one another on-air, but the talent should not be fighting until big money can actually be made off of it.

When the wrestlers meet up at Royal Rumble, it will only be as part of the Rumble itself. At Survivor Series, it will be team warfare to help give that troubled pay-per-view brand a bit of an identity. WrestleMania will be for the dream singles and tag matches. The company should still aim to have their own stars wrestle at Mania in the marquee matches, but if they have a bigger match to book with an opposing brand, then go for it.

Will WWE actually have the patience to do this? If history is any indication then they will not. But this is really a minimal amount of effort to put into making this fake competition work. It requires a little bit of patience, but sadly this is something that Vince McMahon does not have much of.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
