10 Ways Today's WWE Is Better Than The Attitude Era

7. The Content Is Safer

If you were visiting your grandma and Raw came on, would you rather have her sit down and chat with you while you're watching a segment involving Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens or Beaver Cleavage and his "Mom"?

The thing is, not everyone could even watch the Attitude Era. The shows were very risque and filled with a ton of swearing, violence and sexual content. If your parents were at all strict about what you watched, you could have been out of luck for years, and only got to experience Raw when you went to a friends' place. It's hard to imagine a lot of responsible adults outright banning WWE from their homes now.

Yes, the shows are tamer, which upsets some fans greatly, but on the reverse side, so much of the sleaze is gone that you don't have to feel embarrassed to be a fan quite as often (give or take a New Day/Gallows and Anderson skit). There are no hands being born, no porn star characters, or Meat, or PMS, or people telling you to "suck it" approximately one hundred times a show.

Some fans may still lament the loss of that edge, but good writing can be done in a PG to PG-13 environment- just watch any of the original Star Wars or Lord of the Rings films or The Avengers if you're still unsure of this theory.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
