10 Ways Wrestlers Got Out Of WWE Contracts

3. Simply Walking Out

Basically, you have to be the number one guy to get away with this, and even then 'get away' is a loosely-used term.

Stone Cold Steve Austin delivered a big fat no-show to the WWE back in 2002, when putting over a young chap called Brock didn't seem the right way to go about things. That put him at odds with the company for about a year, and is ultimately a mere blip on his history in WWE.

The most modern iconic example of saying 'F**k it, I quit' however, would probably come in the form of CM Punk's walk-out of early 2014, when The Best in the World was so exhausted and burned out, that it was written on his face during every TV performance. After the 2014 Royal Rumble, Punk informed management backstage that he was done, done, and done some more. This took place 7 years ago. He meant it.

Breaching the contract, although seemingly not so much of an issue at the time, did however come with some reprisal, as Phil Brooks received his formal termination of employment, coincidentally enough, on his wedding day.

Passive aggressive doesn't cover it.
