10 Ways Wrestling Business Could Be Changed Forever By Current World Events
8. Smaller Promotions May Be Unable To Ever Recover
While WWE and AEW have lucrative television deals which mean they can continue airing each week (albeit without fans in attendance), the same can't be said for smaller wrestling promotions. Some do "air" on streaming services, but they rely on live ticket sales to be able to employ the wrestlers working for them and to hire out the buildings those shows take place in.
Throw in the hundreds of other smaller promotions (which don't air on television in any way) across the world, and there are inevitably those that will go out of business.
Everyone from Seth Rollins to Daniel Bryan and, well, pretty much every other non-WWE Performance Center created wrestler you can think of got their start in companies like that, so this could be a very big deal for the future.
Countless hopefuls will now have nowhere to hone their craft, while companies that provide entertainment in smaller cities (you know, in the gyms and pool halls WWE likes to make fun of so frequently) are at serious risk.
