10 Ways WWE Can Fix Survivor Series In 2021

3. No More Automatic Champion Vs. Champion Matches

Once again we see another aspect of Survivor Series which pushes storylines out of the way in favour for matches that "need" to happen. Despite these matches often turning out excellently, the titles are not actually defended, much to the chagrin of a large portion of the WWE Universe.

If the brand warfare concept needs to continue in the minds of WWE creative, I would implore them to look at the 2019 event. This is a great example of having their bragging rights matches co-exist with regular feuds. At this event we saw the world titles from Raw, SmackDown, and even NXT defended on the main show. This presents an option that is the best of both worlds.

Should WWE feel there is a need for champion vs. champion matches, it would be wise to integrate these into a story structure rather than just throwing them together. Should there be a narrative-led reason for such matches to take place, that is a different and more satisfying situation. The idea of the best from two respective brands going head to head for the sake of it only holds so much weight in 2020.
