10 Ways WWE Can Fix Survivor Series In 2021
4. Let Storylines Progress
In its current iteration, Survivor Series acts as a roadblock of sorts for WWE. It essentially guarantees that traditional storylines and existing feuds will be cast aside in favour of haphazardly thrown together champion vs. champion bouts. This isn't an absolute rule, as the 2019 edition of Survivor Series saw rivalries continue and co-exist with the incessant brand warfare gimmick.
This year we saw what seemed to be the inception of an angle for Randy Orton as champion, where he had multiple possible contenders seeking to dethrone him. What seemed to be the start of passable story for Orton to fend off several challengers, ended rather quickly with Drew McIntyre defeating him and entering his second world championship reign. This move felt like an interference, serving only to make the arguably more palatable matchup of Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre happen for Survivor Series.
With the absence of normal feuding at this time of year, we don't see titles defended as much as they should be. In 2021 a return to allowing storyline progression would be welcomed with open arms by the WWE Universe who have become disillusioned by repetitive and uninspired booking.
