10 Ways WWE Can Prove The Critics WRONG At WrestleMania 37

3. Make The Firefly Fun House Match FULL Comedy

They baited and switched you last year.

John Cena buried Bray Wyatt in the build, drawing the usual complaints, but it was for an audacious purpose. It was an exceptional subversion of your expectations in that the resulting mind-f*ck was premised on precisely that: Cena's career was reframed and lanced as toxic ego-massage that proved detrimental to the very system he fronted as a good guy mascot. The Firefly Fun House match was a shocking creative triumph.

And Christ Al-f*cking-mighty do they need to do it again because this ongoing Randy Orton programme is spectacularly awful.

Themed on immolation (!) - imagine any wrestler trying to land a dropkick on the Fiend after this, when he literally cannot be killed - it has descended into hokey satanic imagery and Papa Shango prop goo b*llocks. To stand any chance of not further descending into WrestleCrap parody, this joke has to acknowledge itself as and one-up the punchline.

Bray Wyatt is a far more gifted comedian than he is a monster - the Fun House vignettes retained a certain charm long after the Fiend was killed dead - and maybe that black goo, to sell the twist, can find itself pouring out of a different orifice and into a Diva's bag.
