To say that many fans are tired of seeing the same old thing at the top of the roster would be a serious understatement. Whether it's John Cena, Randy Orton, Sheamus, Big Show, Kane, etc... many feel they've seen all there is to see with them and their matches. It's time to create new main event guys. Before anyone says it, I'm aware that Daniel Bryan has been elevated, and it appears as though Bray Wyatt and Roman Reigns could be on their way, as well, but there's still a need for more. CM Punk is probably never coming back. Daniel Bryan's career very well could be shortening due to his years of wild and crazy matches. Alberto Del Rio is rumored to be leaving later this year when his contract expires, if you even consider Del Rio a main event worker at this point. Rey Mysterio is currently in a full body cast somewhere, dealing with injuries he suffered while breathing. Christian is suffering from the worst concussion of all-time and hasn't wrestled since 1995, give or take a month, because of it. Big Show and Kane could walk away from in-ring competition at any time. The Undertaker, already a "special attraction", is probably gone forever now that he has lost at WrestleMania. Mark Henry seems to have had his time in the main event come and go. Same can be said for The Miz and Ryback. If the company isn't featuring fresh talent at the top of the card that people can care about, it usually doesn't matter what they deliver on the rest of the card, because people will begin tuning out. I fail to see why it would kill the company to push someone like Kofi Kingston to the main event. Is he the greatest talker in the business? No, Does he have some issues with ring psychology, where he seems like he'd rather jump around in matches, even if it doesn't make a lot of sense sometimes? Yes. However, the key is that the WWE Universe loves him, and the few times he's been pushed close to the main event, those fans were excited and ready for the push to continue. It's not like putting someone in the main event means they're there forever. Put him in a main event slot, and if it doesn't work out, he's right back to where he has always been. No harm, no foul. Someone like Dolph Ziggler is a bit trickier, because he already has been a main eventer, and on multiple occasions. However, it appears the company just can't trust him the way they can trust, say, John Cena when it comes to media promotion and outside interviews. Dolph doesn't seem to have a filter, and tends to say whatever is on his mind, even if it's something negative about the company or people involved in it. Just listen to his crowd reactions, though. The fans want to see him used more. They want to see him pushed to the top again, especially since his last time there ended with an unfortunate injury that was out of his hands. I wouldn't be surprised if Rusev is pushed into the main event scene, and while that would make for a new player, it isn't exactly what the fans want, at least at this point. Lana gets a bigger reaction than he does, and she's really the only reason anyone cares. Once she's done talking, the crowds go quiet. There's plenty of time for that to change, though, so I'm not going to sit here and say that his push is a total failure yet. People like Cesaro, Kingston, Ziggler, Bad News Barrett (now that he's finally found a gimmick that people can latch on to), Luke Harper, Cody Rhodes, Dean Ambrose, and Seth Rollins are right there, ready and waiting for that call. That isn't even counting people like Drew McIntyre and Santino, who were on the verge of main event pushes before, and people responded positively to them. Once you start looking at NXT names, there are plenty of candidates here.
