10 Ways WWE Can Save RETRIBUTION

9. Make Their Attacks Mean Something

It feels like WWE creative thought that RETRIBUTION's debut and subsequent attacks inside the ThunderDome would be as impactful as that of the Nexus, sending shockwaves through the fanbase and create a new, hot group to drive the tension of Raw and SmackDown to new heights.

Instead, it all just felt a bit silly. Having the commentators run away came off as goofy and cartoonish, their dismantling of the ring seemed uninteresting to the group themselves, and their insistence on having the production control room be in on their supposedly spontaneous attacks made every ambush feel contrived.

Where is the simplicity of the group overpowering a babyface hero and putting them on the shelf for a few weeks? Why not give the group a compelling attack, not dissimilar to the Shield's triple powerbomb? These are things WWE can do to give the group more of an imposing presence and cost them considerably less when it comes to ring ropes and whatever the hell it was they set ablaze.

WWE has a habit of over-complicating things, as was the case with the last entry, when the truth of the matter is, hurting other people in visually compelling ways is a tried and tested heat builder.
