10 Ways WWE Can Turn Around Its Ratings Woes

1. Make NXT Superstars Free Agents

When NXT got involved with Survivor Series, ratings increased, WWE finally closed the gap between that show and All Elite Wrestling, and the brand eventually took the lead. Now, it's back to being beaten on a weekly basis and the best possible way to change that is for WWE to make good use of RAW and SmackDown in order to help bring fresh eyes to the "developmental" brand.

There's not a wrestling fan on the planet who wants to see NXT become RAW-Lite but let the likes of Daniel Bryan or Seth Rollins appear on Wednesday nights and bring the occasional NXT Superstar to the other shows for brief rivalries, and you'll be on to a winner.

NXT talent had no meaningful involvement with this year's Royal Rumble and that makes it feel like they weren't worthy of fighting for a shot at the main event of WrestleMania. Upping the level of interconnectivity would potentially upset some fans but it might also entice a lot of casual viewers to tune in and see what's happening every Wednesday. There are ways to do this without hurting NXT and if WWE ever wants to truly defeat AEW, it could be a necessary evil.
