10 Ways WWE Screwed Up At Fastlane 2017
2. The Undertaker & Brock Lesnar (Or Lack Thereof)
Despite all the complaints thrown at last night’s pay-per-view, WWE could have at least mitigated some of the damage by utilising their special attractions. Fans pop every time The Undertaker and Brock Lesnar are on their screen, and given their respective WrestleMania plans, it would have been easy to get them involved at Fastlane. Neither happened, however, and harmed both of their programs.
Paul Heyman gave a quick interview on Fastlane and teased that Lesnar was in the building, but nothing happened. Regardless of whether Brock was in the back or not, he effectively let his biggest rival become WWE Universal Champion. This of course adds stakes to their own WrestleMania contest, but how sure of his chances can Brock be after Survivor Series and the Royal Rumble?
As well as potentially saving Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman, The Undertaker’s presence would have given him some much-needed direction ahead of WrestleMania. The Deadman hasn’t appeared since being thrown out of the Royal Rumble by Reigns, and with Fastlane supposedly serving as a warm-up for the big event, an appearance here would have made perfect sense. A missed opportunity to both build on what will likely be one of Mania’s biggest matches, and throw a silver lining on this hugely disappointing show.
