10 Ways WWE Will Mess Up Seemingly Perfect Gimmicks

7. Sami Zayn - How Is This Guy Not World Champion?!

Sami Zayn's heel persona has been gripping to watch. His manic energy, delusional promos, and consistently fabulous wrestling matches have made the current Intercontinental Champion a must-see man on the SmackDown brand.

The concern, once again, is that WWE will run out of steam with Zayn before he gets a chance to do something really special. Or worse, ham the character up to a parody of his former self...

When Sami debuted on main roster television he was must-see. The WWE Universe ate up everything about him - theme music to underdog extraordinaire persona. The TakeOver: Dallas match against Shinsuke Nakamura had stratosphere written all over it. Alas, both men have languished in the middle of the card, ironically as a team for a while.

Zayn's new Intercontinental title run is still in the early stages, and we can only hope that WWE doesn't have him go over that delicate line between energetic chaos and straight-up ludicrous/generic heel. Sami walks that line so brilliantly, but he's a mere couple of months of poorly written promos and losing weekly non-title matches away from being thrown on the pile of idiot, burnout heels.
