When The nWo invaded WCW, they did so with the whole world watching. WWE fans turned the channel to watch Monday Nitro and fans that had perhaps walked away from the business came back in droves to see what all the buzz was about. The nWo captivated audiences and rode a wave of popularity right over Vince McMahon's company. From a storyline perspective however, all was not well. WCW as a company was portrayed as an embattled entity, overwhelmed by the outside forces that were threatening to crush it. Eric Bischoff had supposedly turned against WCW and was leading the charge, with Hollywood Hogan, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall following close behind. WCW's best weapon against The nWo was Sting. Sting was the standard bearer for WCW, the measuring stick for talent that aspired to great things in the company. He was the face of WCW and any threat that was directed at the company was directed at him as well. However, he was not allowed to topple them. The nWo seemed to go on forever and practically steamrolled Sting in the process. The man that should have brought them down eventually joined them and it essentially ruined his character for many fans. WWE now has the opportunity to right that wrong by allowing Sting to take out The Authority one by one. As the heat between Sting and The Authority begins to simmer, the fact is that fans will want to see The Icon make an impact on Triple H's group. Eliminating The Authority's members one at a time would be a huge coup for Sting and it would be a nice way to correct past mistakes made by WWE's former rival.
