10 WCW Cruiserweight Matches You Should Watch

3. Juventud Guerrera V. Kidman V. Rey Mysterio, Jr. - Starrcade 1998

At this point in WCW, Kidman had just started to solidify himself as a top player an from the get-go, the match was a well-oiled machine. Multiple teamwork attempts by Kidman and Rey against Juventud told the story of friendship crumbling in a triple threat match. Guerrera was clearly the target of the two friends and they tried to stick to him for the first five or so minutes of the match.

Once the match went to the air, each man got to show what he could do. Springboard planchas, hurricanranas, and reversals were the go-to offenses for the three of them. The higher impact the move, the more the crowd got into the match. On a night where Goldberg’s streak was on the line, Juventud, Kidman, and Mysterio stole the show early on and really helped keep this from being one of the worst Starrcades to ever happen.

Kidman eventually retained his Cruiserweight Title via roll-up and assist by Mysterio and some Eddie Guerrero interference. Directly following the match, Guerrero challenged Kidman to a title match and Kidman obliged in what was probably the second best match of the night following this one.
