10 WCW Moments That Weren’t Supposed To Happen

2. Goldberg Ends Bret Hart's Full-Time Career

Four nights before punishing limo windows like some baddie in a Hulk Hogan movie, Goldberg was kicking Bret Hart in the head and ending the legend's full-time wrestling career. As far as weeks go, this was a total doozy. It's also something Hart has never fully forgiven Bill for.

Their Starrcade '99 match didn't play to Goldberg's strengths anyway.

After springing back off the ropes in their No Disqualification main event, Bret ate Bill's boot and bumped hard to the mat. The concussion and torn neck muscles he suffered would prove fatal for his in-ring career, and Hart would never be the same again. He often wonders aloud in podcasts how differently things might've turned out had he not been slugged in the mush so recklessly.

Obviously, nobody wanted Bret's full-time career to end so suddenly at Starrcade, and Goldberg certainly didn't boot him full force on purpose. That didn't matter - accident or not, Hart was doomed to the exit door and years of follow-up health problems.
