10 WCW Stars From The '90s You Totally Don't Remember

1. Norman The Lunatic

Mike Shaw made a career out of working woeful gimmicks.

In the WWF, he notably played Bastion Booger and 'Mad Monk' Friar Ferguson throughout 1993. Meanwhile, over in WCW, Shaw had worked gimmicks like Trucker Norm and the uniquely-named Norman The Lunatic. It's the latter that goes under the microscope here.

As Norman, he carried around a little teddy bear and was renamed Norman The Maniac when he eventually turned babyface. Work that one out. Later, WCW dropped everything but the forename and Norman plodded on in the promotion until being released in 1991. Think of him as a rehash of the formula that had worked so well for George 'The Animal' Steele.

His manager, our old pal Teddy Long, once carried around a giant key that was supposed to remind Norman that Long could easily have him re-committed to the asylum if he didn't do his bidding. How's that for a borderline-offensive outlook on mental illness?
