Heaven's above, here's another Japanese wrestling legend, and she once worked alongside smiling Sonny Onoo in WCW.

Akira Hokotu won countless championships in a career that spanned almost 17 years. Throughout the '80s, she was a staple in All Japan Women, and she'd make a similar splash during a two-year stay in Mexico's CMLL between 1993-95. By '96, she left All Japan to work exclusively in Gaea Japan.

In between all of that, she wrestled with Bull Nakano against Mayumi Ozaki and Cutie Suzuki at World War III 1995, and that wasn't the end of her WCW adventure. Hokoto then moved onto a feud with Madusa over the short-lived WCW Women's Title. Incredibly, Akira won it at Starrcade 1995.

Why might you have forgotten about her then? Well, WCW barely recognised the women's division and didn't talk about Hokotu's legacy after she left in 1997. She was pretty much written out of the WCW history books completely.
